Just a note , because of the mini outing , and inventory supplies are low, I will not be bringing any items for this months raffle. Will be restocked with items for April.

Al,

Samuel and I will be going over with you. Just also on a side note, I won't be doing the fund raiser this month. My inventory is low right now.

Hello Al, I will be there and possibly my cousin Stephanie and son Chase, also. And of course Phoebe will be there too. For the folks who've never been to that area, it is some of the most beautiful country there is. Bring an extra layer of clothing in case the wind picks up. It's mountainous, but doesn't require 4X4. The forest roads are usually well maintained. Bring food and drinks also, as there are no stores for about 10 miles. Don't forget the camera. Thanks, Don.

Chapter Events / March 2019 Meeting and mini outing

All,

Following next Saturday's meeting a couple of us will be traveling over to Buck creek in North Carolina. I am going to try to get the meeting done by 11:00 so that we will have time for the outing. It is about 1 1/2 hour drive from Coker Creek, so we could be there around 12:30. I am planning on staying until 5:00.

Right now the weather looks clear, but cool. We won't be in the water so it should be fine.

The minerals there are quite varied and interesting and include corundum, Zoisite, Calcic Feldspar, Picrolite, Smaragdite, Edenite, Soapstone, Chlorite, and many others.

Right now I would like to know who is interested in going. I have a lot of experience there so I can point out areas to look and help identify minerals. Digging is not allowed so this would be surface collecting only. With all of the recent rain there should be an abundance of fresh material exposed. I do recommend water boots as some of the ground will be wet and there can be a creek crossing or two.

We gotcha covered brother. We had a small, but effective group. The weather held up nicely (no rain) and we filled several bags of garbage.

To my knowledge our group was myself, Bryon Barner, and Bob DeGreggorio. Thanks to all of you and any others that helped out that I didn't see.
