Wilderness Area
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:16:06 PM »
Has anyone else seen this? http://www.corker.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news?ID=2bde5c81-4488-455c-8b3b-69270e55f175  I don't think it will limit areas currently available for prospecting, but I was wondering if there was anyone more familiar with this.

I believe all Wilderness designated areas are off limits to any type of Prospecting!

Tom,
That is true but, so are wilderness study area's, which I think is what the area in question has been.  So, from what I can tell the total area in Monroe Co. doesn't seem to be changing.  but I've not found any maps that are specific to this plan so I don't know.

If I'm not wrong I believe that the map that came with your permit has all of those area's marked on it. I could be wrong, I don't have my permit yet for this year.

The link showed Acreage being added in Monroe Cty. I'll have to check the map as well.

Seeing as how the law just passed, the new added acreage would not be in there.

This can be a way to squeeze us down.

Actually, the link I included is for a bill that has Only passed the committee,  It has not been brought to a vote on the floor yet.

The way I read this is its making the 2 study area's (were we cannot prospect in) into Wilderness Area's not changing anything as far as prospecting go's.  If I'm wrong please point it out.
