Family Mining on the Klamath River, California
« on: July 15, 2010, 09:19:16 AM »
A few shots from our trip to the Klamath River in Northern California.  We were on a claim owned by the New 49ers club call the Mega-Hole.  The river was way to big in this area to sluice so we decided to just pan.  After two full time miners saw the girls panning and not getting much, they insisted on turning their highbanker over to us. It\'s amazing how much two 13 year old girls can shovel after they saw several pennyweight nuggets in the highbanker as the guys did their clean-up.  I never got a turn on the shovel or highbanker.  They didn\'t end up with any of the big nuggets from their buckets but they still had the time of their lives.  The gold in the pan is the results of 3 hours shoveling by two 13 year old girls.
