Loud Mine Outing 2016
« on: January 08, 2016, 06:13:26 AM »
We hope to have the Details hammered out today,  but we will be having a weekend outing at the LDMA's Loud Mine in Georgia!  Once more details are available we will post them here.  This should be an exciting outing.  We don't know what the cost will be at this point.  Check back later later today or tomorrow for details.

Right now they have the second weekend in March (11th-13th) available.  We've asked for pricing for paydirt to highbank (must use the retention ponds), and prospecting in the stream.

They have hookups (water and power only), and a Dump station for those with RV's, and Dry Camping.

Update 2/13/2016:
  • $45 for all adults (17yrs and older) This is considered an outing, so that includes LDMA members who want to be part of it.
  • Hookups are $4.50 per night for water and power,  I'm told there is a dump station you can use on the way out.
  • Bring your own Highbanker,  The camp will not be providing highbankers. RSVP is Required for Highbanking so I can let the camp know how many to prepare for.
  • I've not been given an official arrival time but I plan to be there and set up (for camping) by about 6pm.
  • We have access to the Pavilion and the Bathhouse

You will want to go there Russ. Lots of garnets and I have even found a few sapphires in the area too.

Big Al, No gold goblin got me yet, still working on new gold getting designs and making prototypes and modifications on my Cyclone Grizzly units. Been to Little river two times this year. Found some nice gold the first outing. Froze the second time out as I was crotch deep and water in my boots. No gold that day. Will be waiting to get back in the water A.S.A.P.

I received the pricing on the outing this afternoon.  Cost will be $45 per person, with $4.50 per night for those needing hook-ups.  We will have material for Highbanking but will need to bring our own highbankers.  I need a count of how many wish to do that so we can know how much material we will need.

Is there a charge if you are a LDMA member? I am.
Not sure if I can make it, but would like to.

Great question Chuck.   We also have some LDMA members at the Buchanan Chapter.

I asked that as well, and roughly the response was "Yes, if you are part of the Group Outing there is still a charge" (there was a lot of mumbling and explaining with the answer too).  However, because LDMA Members can go to the property at any time at no charge I would encourage any LDMA member who cannot afford this, to "independently" go to the Property this weekend.  You just can't "be part of the group".

Can you say: ox?y?mo?ron  ???
a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.

Question:
Is the cost $45.00 for all three days or is the cost $45.00 per day?

Thanks

Actually it is fair, as LDMA members do have to pay to participate in the Common digs.

Another good question Woodspirit.

It's $45 flat fee for all three days.  there is a $4.50 per day charge for hookups though, If you need them.

I'm in for the Loud mine outing.  Do you need the money at this months meeting?  Been working on my high banker/sluice combo. Should have the rough demo ready for the February meeting. Might need some advice from the pros. It is as ugly as it gets, but  I work with what I have available. Plan on putting bike wheels on it if I can find some.

Anyone who can pay at this months meeting is appreciated.  It helps with bookkeeping, and firms up numbers I have to give to the mine, so they can be ready.  Those who can't make the meeting, or can't pay but want to go can still attend I just Need to know so the mine Staff will be ready for us.
