Loud Mine Outing 2016 - Update
« on: February 16, 2016, 05:54:50 AM »
Hello Everyone,

For those who have been able to get to the Website you know we are going to Loud Mine March 11th-13th.  Here are the latest updates.

- Deadline for signup is March 4th.  You must indicate if you will be highbanking to be sure we have enough material.

- You need to bring your own highbanker if you plan to highbank.

- Cost is $45.00 for everyone attending who are 17 and older.  This include those who do not wish to prospect.

- There are LIMITED RV Hookups.  RSVP if you will be needing a hook up.  THey are $4.50 per night.  Due to flooding this year there are several RV sites that are not available.

- This is NOT a Common Dig.

- Bring your own food.  I do not expect not have any food provided on Property.

- There hasn't been a specific Arrival time given, but 6pm Friday is the time I'm hoping to be setup.  Departure time is about noon on the 13th.

- Payment at the meeting this weekend will help with finances, BUT if you cannot you may pay when you arrive at the mine.

- I will have directions to the mine at the meeting this weekend, and will post them.

- To raise our attendance, all chapters within about a 3 hour drive of the mine have been invited to participate with us, so we will have folks from all over the southeast in attendance.

As always if you have questions please let me know.

I will pay the fee this weekend at the meeting and I will be high banking. Almost have my home made high banker completed.
Just Like Sam, I am in need of a pump. I will be buying a pump from Harbour Freight.  Does anyone think the small one inch pump would be big enough for a high banker or should I spent the extra $50 for the 1 1/2 inch ?

Mel,

I would step up to the 2" pump. I have found it plenty adequate for highbanking and running a small dredge.

Al, thanks for the suggestion on the 2" pump. That is what I will get if I don't buy what Daddydave is selling.
See you at the meeting.

Dgurley,
I will check out the pump at northern tool like you suggested, thanks. Whatever pump I do get, I found out that the suction hoses are pretty expensive.

Mel if you buy a 2" pump I have some inlet hose for that pump so don't buy it. I am the one that talked to you upon little river when the water was way up that day I also live in cold springs not far from you.

DGurley,
I got about 17' of 2" hose from a commercial vacuum that I can use. I had to cut out the bad spots, now I have three sections that I can couple together, a 3 1/2', 5 1/2', and a 6' that gives me 15 feet of good hose and I think that should be enough. Thanks for the offer and I will keep that in mind if I need more.

doc from gold hog like a 1&1/2" pump for most hi bankers or a 2inch necked down to 1.5" i think either will work if you have the right setup i intend on modeling mine close to their raptor i think its the most productive wash of all the designs ive seen the only advantage of the 2" would be running time on atank of gas, but the increased size n weight is a down side
my videos on youtube are under Pastor sam and Victoria. I have several playlist so look at the prospecting list for some goofy prospecting vids, Be blessed, and enjoy!

Sam,
Just remember if you are going to go with a highbanker that size, you will need at least 5000 to 7000 gph , so a 2" pump will probably be the better choice. Many 1.5 just don't reach that flow rate, a WX15 Honda will get you just above 4300 gph. But those are expensive.

I'll see if I can get a generator.  I need a way to keep my battery charged. Not sure how fast my new pump will drain it.

I will post directions as soon as I'm home.  I've had a fairly busy couple weeks, and simply haven't been able to get them up yet.  I apologize.

Has anyone noted the weather for that weekend yet, I was looking on the charts this morning, they are calling for rain all three days, if the area floods, how will this effect camping areas. I have no problem working in the rain, but camping in a flood zone that is a different story?? Just asking?

Does anyone know if we can arrive at Loud Mine camp on Friday evening, and spend the night? I saw somewhere that 6:00 p.m might be ok , through I have not seen any confirmation on that. If anybody is planning on going Friday let me know, I would like to find a spot that I can park the truck at the camp and unload my gear as I will be sleeping in the back cap topper.

See you there,

Mel,

I will be arriving on Friday , but I am staying in town that night, I know the outing is listed for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I say you would not have a problem, I know that there is a a fee for a camper having to have services, not sure if they would charge you for your vehicle.

Hope that helps, but I will try to get in touch with Chip to confirm.
