Classes
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:24:18 PM »
Ok I have been following Coker creek forum.  I am confused about the classes and where you can go do with What?  Can someone tell me what class 1 is?  Class 2 and any other classes?  I am moving next month to Tennessee will be there around the 11th of March.  Will there be a meeting in March?

Class 1 is hand tools (pan, classifier, sucker tube, etc) and Class 2 is battery/motorized equipment (dredges, highbankers, etc). You can use Class 1 in most areas of Tennessee, but as far as I know there is nowhere in Tennessee you can dredge, unless something has changed. If you prospect in the national forest it's best to check with the district that you will prospect in. There are two districts, the Tellico and Ocoee districts,  both have different rules and only allow certain tools. In the rest of Tennessee I would stick to basic rules and you should be fine. Stay safe and welcome to Tennessee.

You can dredge on our GPAA property using the club permit and a few other creeks with a State permit.  Also on private land with a permit.

If you are interested, I will be teaching advanced gold panning and if there is time, how to read a creek for gold deposits.
