Curvin's Outing (Alabama)
« on: July 16, 2017, 09:52:05 PM »
This is technically a State outing, so it may not belong under Chapter Outings, but for now it will have to do.

Several had asked about the cost. According to Chip it is free unless you require a hookup.

Not the best quality video, but it does show some of the GPAA Lease.

Ok, More Details of the Outing.  The Outing will be September 29th, 6PM - Sunday Oct 1st at 1pm.  This is a GPAA Claim so times are flexible, but Check-in will officially be at 6pm, and Check-out will Officially be at 12pm.

I have Spoken to Mrs Curvin to confirm the cost for Hook-ups but she wasn't sure, and I never heard back.  According to GPAA, Dry Camping has no fee, but RV hook-ups are $20/night.

All Forms of Prospecting are allowed BUT with a Limit 3" Max Dredge Size.

Amenities available:
  -Large Panning Shed
  -Port-a-potties near the creek
  -Water Near the Creek
-RV Hookups (not so near the creek)
-Indoor Bathroom with Shower (not so near the creek, May not be open if there is an event)
  - Easy Creek Access

I am going to try to get away for a day or two next week and go do a recon of the area and get some pics and updated pricing and such so everyone can have and idea of whats there and what to expect as far as pricing and lodging.

Had a good time at Curvins.  Due to a logistic issue ( I forgot to renew the tags on my truck ) I returned home early.  I had several cancel at the last minute, but even though we were few we found some gold, and had a good time.   I will try to post a picture once I'm through all my black sand.

They've not been taken yet.  With a few biggish things being pulled together, and the changes in the State Dir Program I'm a little behind.

Flash hid much of the gold, there are about 20 pieces total in the pan.
