Gold,Gold and more Gold

I have 2 questions # 1 if you find quartz veins with Large streaks of gold in them in the N. F. S. on dry land not in a creek can you file a claim on it? # 2 How would you mine it or just blow it up get what you can and run.

"Mineral Claims" are tied to the 1872 Mining act which is tied to how the land was originally obtained by the government.  In Tennessee (and I think North Carolina) there aren't any areas where that act applies, because of the way the land was acquired.

Just wanted to add a bit here.  Discovered this pamphlet this morning that names states that are open to mineral claims on Federal lands.  As suspected, Tennessee is not on the list, nor is North Carolina but, I was a little surprised by a couple of them, including Alabama, and Mississippi.  Take a look and see what you think.

Just don't be anywhere near it. Right, Sam? This sounds awfully like the beginning of a bad superhero story. "And that's how Lightningman was born!"
